Slicer to Hooker

Last time, I talked about correcting a slice by not dropping your right shoulder (for right handers) which should help several duffers out there! I know that this worked for me...at first. Then something else went wrong; as it usually does in golf; I started hooking the ball and not just a little! Every once and a while I would hit a severe "duck hook" and it took a while to figure out what I was doing wrong.

Of course, if I had a lot of cash just lying around I would probably visited my local golf pro, however we don't have such a thing where I live; so I was out on both counts. Finally, I discovered that in my 'over-thinking things' I had come up with the idea that maybe I should be square (my shoulders that is) with the target line when I made contact with the ball, which was a no no. That was causing my arms to get ahead of my hip turn which caused the hook. After going back to my normal hip turn things straightened right out again.

The good thing is that I learned something during my slice and hook experiences...I now know how to shape my shots where as before the only thing I knew was to hit straight ahead. Now if I need a little fade to turn a corner or to fight the wind I just drop my right shoulder ever so slightly during contact with the ball, and if I need a little draw I just stop my shoulder turn a little before my hip turn. I don't know how the pro's go about teaching such things but all I can tell you is that it works for me.

Help for that big Slice

I remember the old days when I could drive the ball a mile, it seemed anyway, but it would be a mile into the woods on the right, or those nice houses on the right. It was impressive however; no matter if I ever saw the ball again. I loved when everyone cheered at the distance and then laughed at my score when they beat me!

That went on for years. I read golfing magazines by the dozens and I watched golfing shows all the time; but, alas, my slice was still the dominating factor in my drive. Then one day, quite accidentally, I was watching my shadow trying to see how much I was swaying or dipping during my swing and then I saw it!

As I got all set up nice and square on my target line I then did what I had always done, I dropped my shoulder because I thought that would drive the ball higher and further but I had never paid any attention to the position of the club face before. This time I did, like I said it was quite by accident, and my club face was at least open by 20 degrees and what made my driving worse is that I probably lowered my right shoulder more during the swing. (I'm right handed by the way)

I couldn't wait to get on the Tee! I got all into position, squared up and made just that one little change to my set up routine - I didn't lower my right shoulder. I concentrated on keeping my shoulders level all through the swing and wala! my drive went long and straight. Try it, you'll like it.

Winter is Coming - Really Fast! Putting Practice Time!

First of all, our prayers go out to all those who lost loved ones in the storm the devastated the east coast and to those who have lost everything, or nearly everything; and our thanksgiving to God for the lives that were spared by His grace.

Well, like I said, winter is coming on fast and there isn't going to be much golfing going on unless you live in the warmer sections of the country. Work At Home Businesses Are Not For Everyone

As you might know working from home has many advantages: Freedom, no boss, more time available, flexible schedule, no limits on income to name a few. This article outlines some of the most notable challenges you will have to face when you decide to work at home.

Work

Starting a business means hard work and long working hours, it is not that easy. Sure, those long working hours are all dedicated toward your own business, it is also your time and effort. If you own a business that you love and feel passionate about it, then the work will be more like playing and you will enjoy doing it, that is a desirable thing to have but at the end of the day, you will definitively be tired like anybody else and sometime feeling like you are not making any progress. It is here when you will need to evaluate your plan and keep going.

Income

You will need to have a smart business plan and be able to adapt your plan as you go, particularly when you reach limits, ceiling, and hurdles; which will inevitably happen. Earning money it is a bit hard to achieve, specially at the beginning.

You must be well organized, persistent and focused on what you are doing. Take into account that income is a bit hard to obtain at the beginning so what you gain in high income potential having your own business, you will lose in health insurance, earning security, retirement plans, and other jobs benefits.

Isolation

With isolation you have no colleague to whom share ideas, consult, or ask for advice. This is specially difficult if you live alone. You will need to seek these types of relationships elsewhere and find strength looking for people you can relate to for guidance, or just for mingling about your business.

You will have to find ways to motivate yourself. Without much interruptions or a boss to answer to, you need to provide this situation yourself. Interruptions force us to take breaks on us, which in turn, tend to increase productivity. You need to think how you will ensure that you take breaks at certain intervals.

Organization

When building a business, a plan is a must. If you are not an organized person, you will face this problem. This also apply to your marketing efforts, which will be a big part of your tasks when running a business. It must be well planned and executed everyday.

Also you must evaluate the success of your activities and review them every week to have a clear picture about where you stand. If you have a family you might find yourself into an argument about the extra time you spend doing work. If you live along, you might run the risk of compromising your personal time. That is why you need to think about where you will place the line between work and personal life. It is a balancing act.

March is Marching Closer!

How can this be the end of February already?  I know there are still some days left before March, but come on!  I mean how can it even be 2012 already, or 2011 for that matter?

January is Almost Gone!

It is hard to believe that 2012 has started already and that the first month is almost gone.  This is just not right!  The years are flying by like months used to!

I now understand how a thousand years could be like a day with God because the older you get the faster time flies!  Of course, with God, He cans also make a day be like a thousand years...how cool is that...just think of a day at the beach like that!

Just imagine soaking up the sun for a thousand years and still call it one day!

Beautiful Day Today!

Today was a very beautiful, warm, sunshiny, January day.  My wife and I went for a drive and then we went for a walk.  Later, she treated her skin to get rid of some dark spots.
I also was a little surprised to see that she had snuck into my blog and made posts a couple of times.  I am not saying that I do not ever use any skin whitening products on my skin spots but that is just not something I would usually blog about.  I guess I will let her comment from time to time even though she insists that she doesn't want, or need, a blog.  Funny how that works!
